PRODUCT FEATURES

  • Shall consist of an outer carrier, removable Two Soft Armour Panels and two nos. of Hard Armour Plates.
  • The SAP constructed out of multi layers ballistic fabric shall offer protection to the front and back torsos, neck, collar, shoulders and groin.
  • Hard armour plates made of composite materials to protect required ballistic threats.
  • The Bullet Proof Jacket must provide upper torso body protection. The system must be flexible and should allow complete freedom of movement without compromising the ability to acquire defined threats.
  • BPJ to ensure snug fit and exactly fit the body contour. Two hard armor panels must be curved enough to follow the body contour thus ensuring that it does not hinder body movement and use of arms.
  • BELT / KAMARBANDH : The design and fitment of the BPJ should be such that the weight distribution is over the waist line and not on the shoulders to enhance the wearer’s comfort. When worn the jacket must not sag and stay in a firm position.
  • An additional belt of nylon / polyester weaving with a minimum width of 10 cm should be provided around the waist to properly secure the B.P. Jackets. Kamarbandh should be of the same material as the outer carrier with ridge ventilation fabric towards body face for better grip with Velcro.
  • Two pouches (one each on front and rear of the outer carrier) should be provided to accommodate two 305mm × 254mm Hard Armour Plates, so that the jacket protects vital organs of the body.
  • Ballistic panels (SAP’s & HAP’s) shall be removable from the outer carrier.
  • The jacket should be provided with two external pockets in outer carrier to house two magazines of 5.56mm LMG in each pocket. Two pockets should also be provided to accommodate one grenade (HE 36) in each pocket. The size of each magazine is 19cm × 7.6cm × 3.5cm and size of HE 36 grenade is 110mm × 65mm

OUTER CARRIER

  • The Exterior outer carrier shall be made of high tenacity, heavy duty, abrasion resistant and 100 % vest integrity fabric PU coated Nylon.
  • All the clothing flaps of the jackets should have high quality Velcro fasteners, so that it can be worn and taken off easily / quickly. The Velcro’s
    shears and peel strength must comply with minimum requirements as per Bureau of Indian Standards specification IS: 8156-1994.
  • The fabric must be suitable to wear in the Indian conditions of heat, rain and humidity.
  • Camouflage / Plain. the colour of the jacket will be a camouflage pattern or
    any colour as required.

SOFT ARMOUR PANEL

  • SAP shall be able to withstand NIJ threat Level III A in respect of the caliber & the weapon selected for trial and other parameters such as weight & velocity of the bullet in ammunition selected for trials.
  • Shall provide NIJ threat level III A protection against
  • 9×19 mm Parabellum ammunition fired from sub machine carbine fired from 5 m distance.
  • Shall protect both front and back torsos.
  • Shall be made of Aramid / suitable Ballistic material/s.
  • The SAP shall be placed in tightly sealed, water repellant and PU coated nylon fabric so as to make it completely waterproof
  • The aerial density of the panels shall be such as to provide the rated ballistic and trauma protection.

TRAUMA SYSTEM

  • Trauma pad must be provided behind the Ballistic Panels, so that it remains on the body surface to provide proper cushioning.
  • Trauma or Back face Signature (BFS) should not exceed 44 mm (as per NIJ).

HARD ARMOUR PLATE

  • Shall be made of Ballistic grade Composite construction.
  • Shall provide NIJ threat level III protection against cartridge 1] 7.62×51 ammunition [2] 7.62 x 39 mm ammunition (NOT TO INCLUDE Kirki factory [KF] / ordnance factory rounds) [3] 5.56 x 45 mm Steel tip rounds from a distance of 10 meters in conjunction with a soft Armour Panel.
  • Curvature of the HAP shall be suitable to fit the body contour.
  • HAP shall be shielded water repellent and PU coated heavy-duty fabric so as to make it completely waterproof.
  • Shall be of size minimum size 305 mm × 254 mm with appropriate chamfer cut to cover the vital parts of the body.
  • Provision for side plates on user’s requirement.

SOFT ARMOUR PANEL AREA OF PROTECTION

  • Standard size SAP: 0.55 sqm Min. [Inclusive of Front, Rear, Groin, collars & shoulders].
  • Large Size SAP: 0.6 sqm Min. [Inclusive of Front, Rear, Groin, collars & shoulders].

WEIGHT OF THE BPJ

  • Total weight of BP Jacket including HAP’s, SAP’s, trauma pads and outer carrier should not exceed as mentioned below:-
  • Standard size- not to exceed 7 kg + 3% Manufacturing tolerance
  • Large size – not to exceed 7.2 Kg + 3% Manufacturing tolerance

LABELLING

  • The outer carrier and the two soft armour panels must be labeled as per NIJ standards
  • Strike face of jacket should be clearly market
